Terms of service.

Estimates and Expenses

The estimate is an indication of the charges likely to be incurred based on the information and details known at the date of the estimate. While we make every effort to ensure the accuracy of the estimate, the charges are liable to alteration, particularly where third parties change their charges or rates.

We may not know the amount of third-party charges in advance of the funeral; however, we will provide the best estimate of such charges in the written estimate. The actual amount of the charges will be detailed and shown in the final invoice. If you amend your instructions, we will require written confirmation of the changes. We may need to make an extra charge in accordance with prices published in our current price list.

We will add VAT to our charges where applicable and at the rate applicable at the time of preparing your invoice.

Payment Arrangements

We do not require an upfront deposit to be made; however, we do ask that the total amount payable is made 5 working days prior to the funeral date, unless otherwise agreed in writing by Kimberly Hughes.

If you fail to pay on or before the stated date, you will incur a late payment fee of 0.5%, calculated on a daily basis, up to a maximum of £500.

We may recover, under clause 3, the cost of taking legal action to make you pay. If full payment is not made within 6 calendar months of the final invoice, the amount will be forwarded to a debt collection agency and could affect your credit file.

We accept cash, cheques, bank transfers, and card payments (Visa, MasterCard, credit card).

Data Protection

We respect the confidential nature of the information given to us, and where you provide us with personal data, we will ensure that the personal data is held securely, in confidence, and processed for the purpose of carrying out our services, unless you give us your express permission to use it in our marketing. In order to provide our services, we may need to pass such data to third parties, and those third parties who are performing some of the services for you may contact you directly. Under the regulations, you have the right to know what information we hold on you; however, this request must be made in writing.

Cooling-off Period

You have the right to cancel within 14 days of the agreement; however, you will incur charges for services that have already been paid for on your behalf and any services or goods charges that you have incurred with Hughes Funeral Directors.

We have the right to terminate our agreement with you with reasonable grounds for doing so.

If either party chooses to terminate the agreement, this must be done in writing.
